The Milwaukee Bucks will mark the grand opening of their $524 million arena with a daylong event Aug. 26.
The Bucks sent a "save the date" alert about the event to sponsors and others Friday.
Details are still in the works, but the Bucks plan a block party on the plaza outside the building. Free public tours will be held throughout the afternoon.
"We want to make this a very welcoming public event," said Bucks President Peter Feigin. "We want this to be the biggest street fair in the city."
The Bucks ownership team and former team owner Herb Kohl will attend, along with NBA and state and local officials.
"We're going to be rolling out the world's largest red carpet," Feigin said. "There will be tons of food, beverages and entertainment."

The team is expected to announce other grand-opening events, including a major concert, soon. Those events are expected to be held between the Aug. 26 celebration and the Sept. 13 performance by comic Kevin Hart.
